Hayes Apartments, the new luxury apartment scheme in the heart of Cardiff above St David's, is celebrating after seeing a surge in sales.

The scheme has seen an influx in activity with five new sales in this last week alone.

The sales surge ties in with the latest research from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in Wales which provided evidence of a return of confidence in the property market in Wales.

Cathy McLean, director of RICS Wales, said: ''Our Housing Market Survey shows that things are finally picking up with an increase in new buyer enquiries and sales in Wales. Potential buyers are out there and as we see more positive signs, confidence levels will continue to grow and the property market will recover.

''I have long been a champion of the St David's scheme as it is helping to regenerate the city, something which is needed now more than ever. This is a rare opportunity to live right in the city centre and it is also a very sustainable way of living as everything is in walking distance of your front door, especially if you work in the city as well.''

Property consultant Catherine Maunder believes that the increase in sales at Hayes Apartments is a boost for the city centre property market.

Catherine, of Thomas George which is joint agent for Hayes Apartments with Michael Graham Young, said: ''The increase in sales that we have seen in the city centre is great news and shows that there is more confidence in the property market.
